This record has a nice mix of bangers and really clever word play/phrasing. Sometimes in the same song. Top notch.

I mostly just want to listen to this every month or so. It's catchy and hippity hoppity if Steve Reich were an R&B act. Lyendecker should be sung by Justin Timberlake.

Woods - At Echo Lake



I resisted Woods for a long time. The whole lo-fi garage pop just rubbed my johnson all wrong. Now I know that this is solid gold wrapped in dirt.

Oneida - Preteen Weaponry



Three tracks. Sort of like being punched in the face, but you numb up quick and it feels kind of nice. Drive car to this.

Botch - An Anthology of Dead Ends



Heavy angluar riffs, teaching the kids to mosh in 5. This band got it so right and then they broke up. This has a nifty push/pull type aesthetic to the songwriting.

Grouper - Draggin a Dead Deer Up a Hill



Murky as anything. You can sit and listen and hear these songs come out of the mist. Everything is super simple, but still demands attention and patience.

Teeth Mountain - Teeth Mountain



This album is a great, short, drum circle infused meditation/rock out. It rides a very cool line between space and gritty tension. Google teeth mountain + judge judy.

Pattern is Movement - All Together



This is a great prog-pop-math-schlock album. A two piece, keys & drums. These guys write some catchy, interesting jams that I think rock.

Zs - New Slaves



This album goes to a whole lot of places. Be patient and this will pay off big time. I hope this band opens up some new doors for cool to get through.

Gang Gang Dance - God's Money



Psychedelic dance party. Not your dad's jam band. More like the soundtrack to the worlds last rave.
